2025 Investment Guide (9)

The Hokie Scholarship Fund was designed to fulfill the growing expenses of student-athlete scholarships at Virginia Tech.
Hokie Club members were able to raise more than $22 million in annual fund dollars prior to March 1, 2024.

Not only does this position us more competitively among other states during this critical time, but it also allows for more school involvement as we continue to enhance our recruiting and retention efforts to bring the most talented student-athletes to Virginia Tech.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
The Hokie Club can now accept gifts to support name, image and likeness, which was not permitted before the passing of House Bill 1505.

IF I WANT TO SUPPORT NIL, WHAT CAN I DO?
There are multiple options to support student-athletes’ NIL interests at Virginia Tech!

If you want to support the name, image and likeness interests for athletes of a specific sport, you can directly make a sport-specific donation to that program. NIL expenses will now be counted as part of a sport’s operational budget. These gifts would be tax-deductible.

If you would like to support the general interests of all Virginia Tech student-athletes, a gift can be made to the Keep Jumping Fund. This non-designated fund will be allocated on a needs basis to support the name, image and likeness interests of Virginia Tech student-athletes.

The Hokie Club recommends you consult with your tax advisor before making a gift with the intention of it being tax-deductible.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TRIUMPH NIL AND THE HOKIE WAY?
Hokie fans are still able to support both Triumph NIL and The Hokie Way! Triumph NIL is a subscription-based service that connects Tech fans with Hokie student-athletes, directly backing the NIL interests of student-athletes. This includes content like meet & greets, podcasts, video shoutouts and more. Triumph NIL is also the best place to connect your business with a student-athlete! Learn more about these creative activations by visitingtriumphnil.com

The Hokie Way, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, will continue to connect the charitable passions of Virginia Tech student-athletes with their NIL pursuits, working in tandem with the Virginia Tech Athletics department. To learn more, visit thehokieway.org

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Student-athletes have utilized their name, image and likeness to make an impact in the community and prepare for them for their careers after Virginia Tech, whether in competition or outside of it. Over 300 Virginia Tech student-athletes agreed to an NIL deal in 2023-2024, giving them a chance to connect with local and national charities and businesses and to professionally develop along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

The deadline to renew all season tickets and giving to receive benefits for the 2025-26 athletics season is March 1, 2025. This includes ticket renewals/orders for 2025, per-seat giving requirements, and giving to attain your desired membership level.

No, 2025 is not a reseating year, rather it is a Seat Improvement year, meaning ticket buyer seat locations will be locked in from 2024 and fans will have the opportunity to improve their location (if desired) after the March 1, 2025 priority deadline. Parking locations also remain the same and can be improved, however donors must maintain their Hokie Scholarship Fund membership level from 2024. Dropping membership levels will result in parking being reselected.

Because 2025 is not a reseating year seating and parking locations will be maintained if the following conditions are met:

  • Renew of your tickets. In order to keep the same seat location tickets must be renewed. In addition, season ticket purchases help accrue additional priority points that can improve your rank for the Seat Improvement process.
  • Meet your desired giving amount for both per-seat minimum gift requirements and membership level. Dropping a membership level will result in parking needing to be reselected. You should also consider increasing your total giving to collect more priority points (2 points for every $100 donated).
  • Renew early! As outlined in Renewal Central, additional priority points will be awarded for accounts that renew all eligible items among tickets and giving prior to the early deadlines. These extra points and help improve your donor rank meaning an earlier selection time in the Seat Improvement process.

The two primary benefits of renewing early are to take full advantage of payment plan options and to maximize the amount of priority points you can earn.

As outlined on Renewal Central, additional priority points will be awarded for accounts that renew all eligible items among tickets and giving prior to the early deadlines.

Yes! All season ticket payment plans run through August of 2025 so the earlier you renew the longer runway you will have to spread out your payments. Ticket payment plans are divided into monthly 10% increments of your subtotal, with the first payment covering any prior months missed. For example, if renewing in November, your first payment will cover September, October, and November with the remainder divided equally.

All Hokie Scholarship Fund payments must be completed by March 1, 2025. Gift payment plans are divided into equal monthly installments that concluded on March 1, 2025. Fans wishing to make their gift recur annually should reach out to the Hokie Club at 540-231-6618 or hokieclub@vt.edu.
